Wait.. Jordan’s New Passport Glows?! Here’s What You Need to Know

If you’ve seen a Jordanian passport suddenly light up under UV light, you’re not imagining it. 👀🇯🇴

Jordan’s electronic passport features invisible security elements that are designed to help protect it from forgery and tampering and under specialised light, some of those hidden details become visible. Basically, your passport has a secret side. ✨

But the glow is only one of the cool things about it.

The e-passport comes with a smart chip containing the holder’s personal and biometric data, while its data page is made from durable polycarbonate and uses precise laser printing. It is also designed to be electronically read at equipped airports and international border crossings, including Queen Alia International Airport. (Civil Status and Passports Department)

So, how do you get one?

You can apply through the Sanad app or the Civil Status and Passports Department’s electronic services portal, with delivery available within 72 hours. The electronic passport is valid for five years. (Civil Status and Passports Department)

And there’s a new update: applications are now also available at four Government Services Centers:

📍 Al-Muqabalein
📍 North Amman
📍 West Amman
📍 Balqa

The centers are open daily from 9 AM to midnight. (إذاعة حسنى)

💰 Fees: The same passport fees apply, with an additional 3 JOD delivery fee if you choose delivery through Jordan Post. (Civil Status and Passports Department)
