Olivia Rodrigo Wore a Palestinian-Made Dress 🇵🇸✨

Olivia Rodrigo stepped out in a custom dress by Palestinian label Nöl Collective, founded by designer Yasmeen Mjalli, at a press presentation ahead of her inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival in California. 🇵🇸✨

The pale pink raw-silk mini dress featured traditional Palestinian tatreez embroidery, including hand-stitched birds and interconnected daisy-chain motifs, details that echoed the festival’s name. 🧵🌸

But the story behind the dress is just as remarkable. Mjalli had less than a week to create it, eventually sourcing raw silk in Ramallah before taking it to Bethlehem, where the piece passed through nine pairs of hands for cutting, sewing and embroidery.

Getting the finished dress to California brought another challenge. With no courier able to deliver it in time, two strangers volunteered to carry it in their luggage to Los Angeles, ensuring it reached Rodrigo before the event.

For Nöl Collective, the commission also came at a critical moment. Mjalli told Vogue Arabia that the brand had been close to shutting down, describing Rodrigo’s commission as “divine intervention.”
